I know there are a lot of readers out there that like nothing more than to read a collection of short stories by a talented author such as you. Can you tell us a little bit about your short story collection?

Kate: You Won’t Remember This is a collection of twelve unlinked stories. A number of the stories are about marriage and its many mysteries. Death, love, and birth are themes; also adults coping with loss, children coping with adults. All the stories reflect what I find endlessly fascinating: the miraculous in the seemingly unremarkable.

If you had to give one tip to aspiring authors, what would that be?

Kate: A writer needs certain conditions in order to make her stories and novels. A quiet room of one’s own or a coffee shop with white noise. A computer or a yellow legal pad. A walk. A good night’s sleep. Music. For me a daily meditation helps open my mind to the imagination. Learn what your conditions are and use them.
