• It’s a page-turner. We get to see an awful lot of manuscripts and the trick is to find ones that engage us from the first page and keep us hooked. Not only did we have to read Identity Thief all the way through on our first reading, but it also has hooked us every time we’ve read it since then. 
  

• There really are two sides to every story. In Identity Thief, you get the story from the thief’s point of view and from the victim’s. True, you might not want to hang out with either one, but somehow the thief comes out a little more sympathetic than his vic. 
  

• It’s funny, in a quirky, dark humor sort of way. Some of the characters (not saying which) have lines that almost made us laugh out loud. 
  

• It’s unpredictable. We’re the kind of readers who try to guess ahead. This story took us by surprise.
